Decent MM shop with a really strong culture. Good place to go if you want to develop a career in banking. I think they’re slightly below some of the stronger MM players but definitely a well respected bank. I went through a deep recruiting process with them and really liked everyone I met in the Chicago office. I know their industrials group is considered one of their top groups. Don’t really know much more than that.

I did my analyst stint at Lincoln - overall, it's an average MM IB

Very very very small deals, but a huge volume so you do get a lot of reps

Zero modeling and analytical work - most work is marketing and process-related

Decent reputation, but only in Chicago. People in other cities usually have never heard of Lincoln

A lot of exits to LMM PE, very few to MM PE and MF / UMM is impossible

Would you say the quality of experience / analytical aspects that you are getting at your EB outweighs the culture / reps at Lincoln?

Absolutely. Idk how this idea about Lincoln having a good culture became a thing, but it can be an absolute sweatshop at times. The junior culture is extremely fratty, so if that’s your thing, you may like it.

Working on large, complex deals is what matters to the rest of the world and especially during recruiting. Nobody cares if you closed 10 tiny sponsor sell sides with no complexity.

Lincoln has a reputation among PE firms that they don’t do analytics, which also hurts you during recruiting. I’ve heard this multiple times from people when I was doing PE recruiting.
