Funniest

I just checked linkedin for the first time in a few hours and jesus. A few people updated their headline to "incoming 2024 goldman sachs virtual insight series participant". Many people are throwing out past applications numbers to inflate their ego, I've seen everything from "selected from 8,000 applicants" to 10,000 and everything in between. I knew it would be bad but I didn't expect it to be THIS bad.

Just got selected, also from a non-target school. Would it make sense to post it on LinkedIn just saying "I'm excited to participate etc." instead of "I got selected from ..." or should I just not do it at all?

I would advise you to not post at all, however if you must, just simply sharing the news is fine. No need for extra flair or descriptive words to make it sound more prestigous than it really is. In years past (including this year), it's just obnoxious to see folks act as if they had just received an offer that's all.
