Advice, any advice

I am a recent liberal arts grad with no finance background. Kicked ass in top 30 school with the highest honors (summa, Phi Beta Kappa) and looking for i-banking positions. I know enough about finance/economics concepts to do well in the interviews. The hours I can deal with and I know I can do the work. Recruiters seem to think I can only obtain middle/back office interviews.

Are inside contacts the only realistic chance in getting an interview? Am I smoking crack with my expectations?

Any advice/thoughts welcome.

Hard for any of us to tell. most of the bbs are interviewing right now so you need to jump on this ASAP. being a graduate makes things a little tough for you I think, as most candidates are still in school. Have you looked into middle market firms, like harris williams, william blair, jefferies, cowen, etc? It might be wise to work those heavily, as sometimes the application process is less formal and you can try to work your way into an interview.
