ADVICE: NON-Target HBCU Student

I am a junior, I have applied to like 20+ summer Investment Banking programs the important ones that I am hoping to get a Superday for are JP, GS, And Deilotte but I'm not sure if i will even get an offer or how long it will take. I already did the Hirevue for 2/3 of them but I attend an HBCU so I'm nowhere near being in a target school. I have experience with excel and I'm taking courses this semester to learn more about valuation and modeling. I am also participating in two internship program which one is for a small investment firm. I still have no clue if that would put me in the running for getting into an internship at big bank. Does anyone have any advice? (btw idk if gender matters but I'm a girl)

You are about 8 months late, these internships sign in the early spring of sophomore year (a whole year+ out). If you are open to extending grad one semester you could try the summer 2025 cycle which is starting now. The basic path is you network your butt off, hopefully get into some diversity programs, and interview in early spring of sophomore year.

Being at a HBCU will help a lot as many schools are targeting these for diverse students. Being female helps even more as you are eligible for diversity programs.

I'd do a search on here, there are guides on how to network and the timelines. Summer 2024 is long done, it looks like you have the right resume but you're just late. You could try for smaller firms (also Deloitte is absolutely nowhere near GS/JPM, they are an accounting firm and the IB arm is almost nonexistent)

Thank you, Also I have picked up another major which is going to have me gradating a year later so like 2025. The only reason I'm a junior now is because I graduated high school at a young age, so is there nothing I could do to get an internship for summer 24. Should I just start cold calling people and if so, who how do I even know who to talk to?

Cold calling won't work - again, really recommend doing some research on here for very detailed guides but you need to "network". 1. email people with your resume and 2. hopefully people are down for a 10-15 minute call. If you just cold call you won't reach anyone except the reception desks or admins.

Summer 2024 internships are for people graduating in June 2025. If you are willing to take 1 more semester (Dec 2025) you unlock a whole additional year of internships which is just starting.

There are probably some HBCU internships (GWI mentioned below is still open) that will recruit into the fall but if you are set on the June 2025 grad date it probably won't be IB.
