London application system = garbage confirmed. All these stupid questions, and cover letters, and tests wtf is it about? Why can't they just do CV drops like in NY? And if they like your background, invite you for an interview.

Funniest

Based. I basically use a template cover letter for which I just have to change the names, but I'm wasting my fucking time typing these stupid ass answers and bullshiting about how working for your bank will be a mystical experience that will make me a better person like bro why do I have to write a dozen of fucking essays? Is it IB or a cock sucking contest?

I’ve been doing that for years. I just don’t have the same patience anymore these days. I’ve tweaked it a little bit, but not a lot.

Greed is Good!

One of my friends made a fake account and applied to PWP. They typed random letters in the essays and still got a call from Dartmouth Partners. Speaks volumes about the importance of essays xD

Felt like this may be a Dartmouth thread when I clicked and was not disappointed. They are not exactly, cognitively, present.... Apparently one guy at DP accidentally drunk dialled someone they had interviewed earlier in the day from some party. All that guy heard on the phone was about drinking and snorting or something. Consummate professionals.

That does not surprise me they r so unprofessional.

I applied through them for another role last year and they just cold called me out of the blue - I was walking my dog and was forced to do a first round in a random park like wtf.

Thats what happens when u give low paid people power. They exercise it.

I had an off cycle interview with PWP and the VP I spoke with was very formal and professional to the point that it was almost off-putting. The next day he butt dialed me while at brunch. 30 seconds in, I began to hang up when I heard him start yelling at a waitress for not putting enough vodka in his mimosa...

Dude at one point everyone was a clown. My sophomore year I had no idea how to get internships so I spent tens if not hundreds of hours making custom cover letters for all these IB/MC/PE positions but because no one in my family works in finance, and my friends weren't interested in the industry, I didn't know about the importance of networking. High GPA and decent prior work experience (for a sophmore) and I went 0/150. I would've been better off doing anything other than hand-crafting and sweating over cover letters that no one ever read.

Every single position on my resume was through networking. Fuck the online application process. The only times I even got interviews through it was for less than ideal positions, and I never ended up taking one.

Damn 150 tailored cover letters I can't even imagine.

Issue is that in LDN many banks have no-networking policies and you have to wrestle your way past HR to get an interview. Leads to many questionable decisions being made

No-networking policies? I've never heard of this before now? I thought that networking was allowed, just rarely used in practise. Please could you elaborate on where this happens/which firms employ such policies? If this is true, then my hopes of future employment as a new undergrad might have been shattered (considering I was, or still am, hoping that I can network my way into securing a SA, and then a FT role later)...

Believe it or not experience is not good for PWP if you are applying for SA or OC. Or even FT lol. At least according to DP.

I crushed the five questions, then completely screwed up the first round interview, as has been previously stated it's a hard knock life.
