Am I screwed for post-MBA IB recruiting?
While applying to b-schools, I was under the impression that the school / networking / interview prep were the most essential pieces for landing a decent IB gig post-MBA. Now I'm hearing that UG GPA is looked at as a filter. Is this true? If so, am I screwed for landing a good BB/EB offer out of Columbia?
Stats:
UG GPA: 3.3-3.5 in a non-STEM major
GMAT: 750+
ORM Male
Your GPA will not keep you from getting offers, but if you keep acting like a total spazz you're definitely not going to get an offer
I don’t think I was ever asked my UG GPA and landed BB
you are fine, I had a 3.3 in econ from a total nontarget/740 gmat and i have interviews w/ 2/3 of the top 3 banks
Agree with the posters telling you to relax. You’ll get looks from a good majority of banks regardless of GPA/GMAT at CBS.
Getting traction at banks comes from networking thus placing more emphasis on your pre-MBA work/story you can tell in an interview.
You’re fine. I had a 3.2 from a school nobody’s ever heard of and only one bank asked. Ironically, that’s the bank I ended up joining.
Thanks for the info guys. Not gonna lie, heard it on fishbowl regarding a discussion on MBB recruiting. Appreciate the help :)
I had a 2.5 gpa (srs)
No one asked
