Anex v Self Study WSO

Have posted my background here before.. Law school (non-target, Europe, top 3 % of my class, went on exchange to Columbia, got a real passion for finance/IB, yet was only able to take a few courses).

This means I have 1) Not enough knowledge about finance to get me through the interviews. 2) Have no relevant work experience except for a securitizations internship in Biglaw (again, European firm).

1) Can be solved through Anex or WSO prep stuff in my opinion. Which of these do you value better? Obviously it's 5k v 0.5k, but is the WSO package a good substitute for Anex?

2) Again, Anex will get me an internship, but are these banks prestigious, or at least decent? Secondly, how do BB value these internships, as you did not have to compete with other students to the extent you usually have to for a summer internship.

Will gladly pay 5K if it gives me any real shot at IB afterwards.

Thanks!

there is no way you can pay to get into a prestigious internship! That defeats the purpose of prestige!

you'll probably get placed into some no-name IB boutique. I've worked at a lot of boutiques and some small IB boutiques are downright sketchy and borderline illegally operated without the proper registration / licenses. That doesn't mean Anex will be like that, but just know that sketchy boutiques exist.

An internship is good but don't think just because you have an internship you'll be all set for a BB offer. You'll be up against kids who worked at BBs since freshman year and such - I'd pay the 5k if you have the money to burn, but don't get your hopes up so high. BB is hard even for target kids. There is no easy shortcut here.

Your best tool is still networking.
