Anti raid and shareholder activism

Can anyone clearly explain to me what these are..? And if a certain group were responsible for giving advice in anti raid and shareholder activism, would an analyst learn a lot and have good exit opps if s/he were to work in the group?

shareholder activism is essentially buying a controlling interest in a company and subsequently trying to effect some changes to the company. A raid is when a company attempts a hostile takeover, so it essentially falls under the realm of shareholder activism (Carl Icahn is the epitome of shareholder activism/raiding). I've never heard of a group being 100% dedicate to this though, if there were I'd definitely be interested in it. I'm guessing its takeover defense? What bank is this at?

this group is good. More important than what you'd learn are the connections you'd make. The group is run by a collection of directors who used to run the M&A group at goldman when it existed. Exposure to them would enable you to pursue any exit opps you wanted.
