Any advice on how you became proficient in Excel?

I’m in my final year of college with a full-time BB investment banking offer. I’m trying to maximize this window ahead of my start date in July and hit the desk running.

Could you share any YT Channels/Books/Courses you felt helped shaped your excel competency from a collegiate level to the AN1 level? Thanks.

Oh, you're in for a treat! Based on the most helpful WSO content, there are a few ways you can boost your Excel skills before you start your job.

Firstly, many people find that learning on the job or teaching themselves is the most effective way to become proficient in Excel. You can start by downloading raw data from your bank or financial institution and coming up with data points that you want to track or analyze. This will help you build your raw Excel skills in a practical way.

Secondly, there are a lot of good (free) online resources like Mr. Excel that you can use to learn more about Excel.

Lastly, the WSO Courses have been highly recommended by users. The Excel Modeling Course, in particular, has been praised for being applicable to day-to-day work and for boosting efficiency. The course covers 95% of what you would do with Excel during an internship, and the keyboard shortcuts can be a real game-changer. The timed tests sprinkled in between really help cement the concepts you learn and allow you to apply them immediately.

Remember, practice makes perfect! So, the more you use Excel, the better you'll get at it. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Typing tests wasn’t something I would have considered, thank you for the input.
