Are Bonuses Back?

Last night, I saw the first bonus number from this year on Dealbreaker:

From a tipster on the inside of Moelis & Co.: “The top bucket bonus for second year analysts (class of 2015) is $105,000.” Oh, well that’s not so bad. But we kind of forgot what it was like to see people get bonuses so forgive us if we’re fuzzy on whether that’s good or not anymore…

From the 2017 WSO Investment Banking Industry Reports we see that EBs usually compensate the highest, and Moelis is generally considered to be in the top tier for EBs, so this is definitely close to the highest end of the spectrum. Could this be a sign that bonuses are coming back? Looking forward to hearing the whispers on the street.
