Are there any diversity programs for full-time offers?
As a junior, are there any diversity programs I can sign up for next year to help land a full-time IB offer? I became interested in IB pretty late, and am trying to take any advantage I can find.
I've searched it up, but couldn't find anything. I'd appreciate any advice/info on this topic!
Nope! Besides firms that don't hire interns, not at all. Even then, most firms maybe hire like 7 diversity kids out of 100 interns.
I recommend looking for small regional firms, local PE and PC funds, etc. It will be near impossible to get an offer without an internship this summer. You're gonna have to start networking and recruiting like mid august where firms decide on return offers when banks start recruiting for full time.
What I am going to have to harp on here is: learn your technicals beyond the BWI400 guides. Buy WSP and practical modeling exercises and actually learn them. Most people who go into banking don't even actually want to go into banking, they're just kinda forced into it by everyone around them. Get a good understanding of what banks do and why you want to do it. And if its for the money, you'll come in and just get spat right out.
Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it a lot. How would you recommend I go about letting those people know that I'm willing to work for free just to get some experience? I don't want to come across as desperate.
Why don’t you apply via the normal process, are you scared?
If you could take advantage of an opportunity that minimizes competition for specific slots you'd be an idiot not to use it. Its a fair point to ask.
