Banking/PE Scene in TX

This is a broad topic, but I’ve recently decided I want to look at living in TX long term. That being said, I have an offer at a BB IB in a relatively HCOL city, not NYC, and know nothing about finance in TX except Vista. Can anyone shed some light on prominent groups for IB/what PE opportunities are like? Thanks in advance for your time!

Come on down, just make sure you don’t vote for the same people from the state you’re fleeing.

Houston IB / PE is mostly oil and gas, with Austin havin a couple boutique IB tech / general shops, and a couple tech PE, most notably Vista.

Dallas is all over, with middle market IB groups, healthcare groups, and general as well as energy PE.

In terms of the most prominent, Vista is by far the best PE shop in Texas, with some other oil and gas shops behind (probably not anymore as of late) like EnCap and Quantum. In terms of banks, the best groups would be in Houston but the former comment still applies
