They will make you go through a ropes course where you have to tight-rope between the MGM building and the AIG building. Last man standing gets an offer :).

Appreciate it, glad to be of help.

But on a serious note, at this point, how does anyone telling you what to expect help? Here is what I can tell you to expect:

  • Be prepared to meet a person who would like to grill you
  • Be prepared to meet a person who will ask you softer questions
  • Be prepared to meet a person who will ask you more market based questions

I guarantee you that you could meet any one of those interviewers... at ANY superday!

Okay, I feel bad now, I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way, I just know everyone could use a little humor now and then.

On a truly serious note, I can tell you that my 2nd to last post really does hold true. I happen to know the office does not use the same people rotated for superdays, and as such, there is a chance you will run into the general three types of interviews I mentioned.

Here's some general rules:

  • VPs and above tend to care more about market/industry based tech questions and overall fit. The smart and up-to-date ones know the kids all read the prep guides so they turn to these questions. Generally, they really push your overall understanding and find great ways to 'test' candidates.
  • Associates tend to care more about the typical tech questions. As they reminisce the glory days of '05-'07 a number of them like to ask LBO questions. Be prepared though, at a superday they are likely to take it one step deeper to really push for your understanding.

Most importantly, as with all interviews, it does NOT matter if you nail all your tech questions with lightning speed. The tech questions serve as a pre-requisite. At the end of the day, it truly comes down to whether or not the person at the other end of the table likes you. I don't care what anyone else says, this holds true 100% of the time. Unfortunately, this is the hardest part of an interview to "prep" for... especially during such a challenging year.

Best of luck.
