BB Public Finance SA Timeline 27
Hey guys, I know the timeline is super accelerated this year with wave 1 done and offers out for many BBs. However, I'm recruiting specifically for public finance which is a very specialized seat within BB IBD and have distinct applications than generalist or capital markets ibd. Was wondering if the timeline is later or what it looks like this year. Submitted my apps for all BB hat offer PF and haven't heard back yet.
PS: talked to a Wells Fargo PF guy who said they do it same timeline as the generalist pool of Feb-March, but don't know what it actually looks like for other firms and if first rounds/ wave 1 are done now.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, public finance recruiting timelines within BB IBD can indeed differ slightly from generalist or capital markets roles. While some firms, like Wells Fargo, may align their public finance recruiting with the generalist pool (February-March), this isn't a universal standard across all BBs. Given that wave 1 for generalist roles is already completed, it's possible that public finance recruiting could still be ongoing or slightly delayed depending on the firm.
If you've already submitted your applications and haven't heard back, it might be worth reaching out to your contacts at the firms or HR to confirm the specific timeline for public finance roles. Additionally, staying in touch with professionals in the field, like the Wells Fargo PF contact you mentioned, can provide more clarity on firm-specific timelines.

I haven't heard anything either. I heard Barclays already started their R1 for PF but that's the extent to it
jefferies and ms started r1 interviews but thats all i know
I got my SA offer last year the first week of March, no info this year tho sorry
Can I get in without networking or do you have any advice for getting R1s? I discovered OF almost a week ago and thus applied pretty late to all postings
Extremely unlikely sorry—pubfin is just as competitive as the rest of banking especially at a BB. In terms of timeline, I remember most processes kicking off Feb last year.
.
MS R1 happening now
Anyone know what the timeline is for superday —> offer? Is it different than the M&A groups where you might get a call back immediately?
Which bank’s superday did you had?
MS / Jefferies
Thought I'd come back for quick update.
Tried and networked with all major banks for public finance. Ended up getting SPD for Wells after starting in February.
Banks that recruit separately for public finance are JPM, BofA, Jefferies, Wells, MS, Oppenheimer, Stifel, Barclays. MS/Barclays/Jefferies/BofA public finance timelines are aligned, so offers are out in Jan/March. Wells last round is late march, Oppenheimer is slightly later in early/mid April. Stifel has latest timeline and yet to begin interview for this year.
If you're interested, public finance is def possible for late starters. hope this post helps future students.
Hey man can I PM? interested in recruiting for sa 2028
