Best groups at JPM London ?

Hey I was wondering what were the best groups at JPM London in terms of WLB, career prospects, learning opportunities etc I saw some threads saying that DI and TMT were great but they were dated and I'd love to get a more recent/accurate overview of what the culture's like for newcomers/SA Also wanted to know what's the Energy group like at JPM Any insights would be greatly appreciated !

Thank you for your answer ! I wasn't aware of that, what was TMT split into ? And is either one of TMT/DI more demanding in terms of work hours ?

Honestly I think going for a "top" group is not really a good idea. If you end up at GS/MS/JPM you will land interviews in PE regardless of what group you are in. A top group will pretty much always have rougher hours. You are far less likely to survive banking for 2 years if you get off at 2-4am every night vs getting off at midnight. Obviously, you will also have less time to prep for interviews. If you want to stay in banking, this is even more true as you don't have to survive the rough hours far longer. Pick an industry you think is interesting and maybe try to avoid the absolutely weakest groups.

Thanks a lot for your insights ! What you suggest makes perfect sense, I thought that going into a "top" group would increase my chances of getting a return offer or something but that might not be the case
I think I'll stick to energy if I have the opportunity

Not anymore - toxic work environment and their analysts don't place well with top PE funds as they don't have good deal flow.

Exits are the same between UK/EMEA teams, with most teams always being cross-staffed for the same experience. What you may find is EMEA people place faster, due to age and language ability, but Europeans in UK teams see the same opps their EMEA counterparts see

Work in country team often crossstaffed with industry in London. Would def say DI is solid (includes verticals including chemicals, auto, paper, logistics, etc), with solid execution and product exposure. Nice team overall. HC and Energy good but sweaty. Consumer depends who you ask. TMT is split in tech and Media&Com, nice teams overall, but not top groups.

From an exit opps perspective at JPM, top teams are DI, HC and Tech

Has anyone actually heard the timing for when networking/placements will happen? I’m still waiting to get more info and it’s wildly unnerving

No news for the London office so far but I suppose you already know if you're on the corporate or market side though, right ?

Yeah that was clarified earlier in the process, I’m just perpetually afraid that I’m out of the loop due to the low amount of communication since signing
