Best groups in London for culture

Culture is make or break in IB. one of the biggest influences on overall job satisfaction is the environment / team you work with - especially when you’re spending 12+ hours a day with those people.

We hear many stories of groups with sweaty / bad culture (especially in the US), but I’d like to hear some positive stories too.

Has anyone found their group to be much better than expected / advertised?

Is there a team that’s widely recognised as the best on the street for culture in London?

Of all the groups I've networked with, I've found GS to be the chiller set of groups compared to JPM or MS in London.

That's not to say it's still not brutal but it's less rough per-se than the other BBs

I'd say DB is probably more relaxed than those above from the networking I've done but that's just my experience.

Anything infrastructure or energy, the culture is very good

Interested to hear more ab infra & energy specifically, can you pls shed light on any of the teams? or give a view on the sell side landscape (best teams / exits etc)

Best infra teams in London are probably MS/DB/RBC/EVR/roths. Culture at MS probably worst of the lot and deal flow recently hasn’t been the strongest. Possible to exit from any of these to infra teams at MF / MM. Very few UK infra sell sides over past 12-18 months but Europe doing ok.

I was joking tbh, infra & energy teams tend to have a very autism shifted culture due to the specificities of it all lol

JPM M&C top notch culture from the top down. Good work life balance if your idea of balance is 6 marketing decks, 6 pitches, and 0 hours of sleep. Would stay away from any industrials group on a more serious note.
