Always a Canadian bank facilitating DEI Beckies. She kept collecting those accelerated promotions on her way up while padding the DEI KPIs of her bosses. Ultimately, became too expensive for the revenue she brought in and was let go.
My thoughts are, girls can sue a company for being run like a frat house, but guys can't sue a company for being run like a Montessori kindergarten
I'm high key over lifeless sterile Arbeit Macht Frei corporate culture, no joking, no fun, everything must be 24/7 accessibility on your phone. Just doing my time to stack up a little cash and then venture out onto my own thing, and then never have to deal with articles like that again
Find the right woman and you don’t have to be interesting for her to talk to.. so long as you spend bigly. Got to be able to compensate for the lack of charm somehow.
I’m not taking any sides regarding this case since I don’t know much about it but I’ll try to give a balanced view, and I know recently this forum has been vocal against DEI. I think DEI programs didn’t solve the systemic discrimination directly and caused unfair bias against male/non-DEI candidates, but it did help women/minorities gain exposure to careers in finance who otherwise wouldn’t have known anything about finance and I think that’s a good outcome (excluding quotas). But the real discrimination women face in workplace isn’t when they’re in an entry-level AN or ASO position anymore, but more often when they’re senior and start to have a family. This isn’t isolated to RBC or finance, firms are generally hostile to women who have kids which I think is wrong. We can criticize the reverse discrimination caused by DEI quotas all day, but it’s wrong to discriminate women because they’re married or have kids.
Sorry but firms don’t owe women anything. Enough of these handouts. Firms discriminate against immigrants and religious people when it comes to career progression but we never see whining related to that. All this fuss / litigation is mainly because a white woman feels discriminated and felt that RBC owed her more dough. DEI has only favored women (mainly white) and stop lumping minorities with them. MoC color excluding black / Hispanics are not even part of DEI. Go read DEI audit report of your bank.
It amazes me how so many men on this forum just think absolutely abhorrent thoughts about women and their motives. Straight radical red pill ideology masked as conservatism yet undermines protecting women as the weaker sex. Modern day abuse is what it sounds like. Emotionally beat down women but if any woman were to say anything remotely close to this about a man then hell hath no fury as a scorned man.. and trashing women for trying to fight back or protect themselves. This entire thread is an echo chamber of men egging each other on to say that women are all these negative made up traits… and citing of fictitious events conjured by pure imagination and paranoia. One guy will say all women’s clubs are men bashers so men should go spy on them to report back…but no one has to spy on “boy’s clubs” because it’s all written here in its most sanitized form! To think that this is the sanitized version that men think is fine to write on a public professional forum for the finance industry is just deplorable. The lack of embarrassment is shocking.
This is a tactic to pressurize the bank into paying them more. The junior women learn these from grandmas (MD) who preach these behaviors in women only clubs / dinners / breakfasts. You want to expose this cult, go attend VersaFi meetings. Everyone is a future MD in their meetings and men are painted as either allies or enemies. No in-between. Save yourself the stress and avoid teams like plague whose MD wake up one day become supporters of women DEI forums.
This is bullshit. As much as I hate RBC, it's so obvious she is just looking for a large payday.
"The bank claims that when it was planning a workforce reduction in 2023, Caruso-Jones asked to be included. RBC said it offered her a severance package worth more than US$1.1 million and that her employment was later terminated."
The bank is hyperfeminized. I don't think it's unfair to pro-rate a bonus if a woman is on maternal leave. Sitting at home and taking care of your baby is not the same as leading deals. Not saying the former is wrong, but you have to acknowledge that this isn't a great career path if you want to be a Mother and spend time with your children.
RBC’s denial highlights how complex DEI and culture issues are. DEI can open doors for women/minorities, but real challenges often appear at senior levels or around family. Articles like this often mix culture critique with personal agendas—take the claims with context.
I’m in UK and took under 6 months mat leave. I was shocked I got a full bonus when I came back. They told me that it’s because there’s some legal clause whereby if you take less than 6 months you have to be treated as if you never left. I work at a BB if it matters.
Do I think you should get the bonus when on mat leave? I struggle to argue in favour. That being said there are known cases in the UK where traders and bankers have sued and then settled privately on the premise that compensation in the industry includes bonus as a standard therefore it is expected. I suppose if you don’t particularly want to continue your job and have a good lawyer it’s a gamble worth taking.
Where I think genuine discrimination does happen if post maternity leave. There was an article around UBS where women that came back were consistently given lower bonuses for years and years due to being perceived as less committed. I’m not sure where that case went.
Sounds fucking insane asking to be paid a full year's BONUS when you've worked less than 3 months and brought in no deals?? I get the base salary component but being entitled enough to demand an equal bonus to guys who've been grinding all year? Makes all women look bad.
This is somewhat unrelated, but it reminds me of how bs it is when teachers complain about not making enough money ( ie 50K) and yet only work 8-9 months a year…. Bitch you make 67 - 75k annualized as a starting salary. Cry me a f**king River
So there could be some merits about it being a “boys club” at the senior level but ultimately this sounds like a skill issue for Caruso Jones. Plenty of senior women across the street who are absolute rainmakers and have a husband / kids. Another example of someone who is subpar from a pure performance basis and decides to blame “the system” instead of their own faults.

I am very liberal compared to most on this site, and it is unfortunate people have to leave work to take care of a new kid, but it's even more unreasonable to expect to be treated like you didn't just miss a huge amount of work.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.
You should have one spouse who is willing to take the career hit - and that doesn't need to be the woman in the relationship if she is earning way more.
Yes, perhaps men should work 24:7 and provide resources to women so they don’t have to work. Start this in dating to get practice. Have to ensure compatibility before commitment.
Men are more likely to file lawsuits against corporations than women. Women are less likely to file corporate lawsuits than men. Lots of rage against a woman filing a lawsuit as though her gender means she shouldn’t have the ability. RBC likely has multiple lawsuits it’s battling every year that are unknown to the public. Companies hire corporate attorneys for a reason.
A whole lot of what-about-ism. Show us the data which supports that men file more law suits. Oh wait, Versa Fi or some other feminist cult fed you this information.
Go search on Google. Oh wait, you’re too lazy. Zero due diligence done by you. What are you credible for? Making stuff up? Hyping new slang like “what-about-ism” that isn’t a real word? Just start saying “nah” in your posts while you’re at it.
This entire industry need to be gutted and restructured. It is completely broken. No ethics here and yet trusted with millions to billions of dollars!! No wonder the country is in trillions of debt! Look at the lack of ethics and willingness to do the wrong thing if it lends to feelings of superiority or power that is spewed by all these random men in this field who manage the funds and provide advisory!
prune prune prune this thing down it’s overrun by weeds.
Just say it you hate men. You and your supporters are eternal victims. Get a life freeloaders. The only liability is l*sers like you who want handouts virtue of their gender while handicapping hardworking men. If it wasn’t for gender quotas, most of you will be working at McDonalds. People like you ride diversity quotas to get important positions and then preach hate against men, conveniently suggesting that hiring practises of men should change to appease you and only woke/l*sers get in.
We are backfilling some junior spots and our MD instructed us to steer clear of r*dical feminists. Guess I need to find some Asian / Indian immigrant women. We can’t put up with the local loud mouths. All whinning and no performance.
RBC’s situation shows how tricky DEI and culture issues are—programs can open doors, but real challenges often appear at senior levels or around family. Articles like this mix culture critique with personal agendas, so it’s worth taking claims with context.
This personal agenda under the disguise of DEI starts as early as Associate level where women use senior female leaders at the bank to pressure MDs into having females VPs even when they are not as competent as even mid-bucket male Associates. Some time ago, we had 3 AS in our team, 2 males and 1 female. Both males were more competent, reliable and hardworking but female Associate actively lobbied to get 1 of the VP spots. MD lack integrity and often don’t provide them true feedback due to personal gain in their DEI metrics.
There was another woman I worked with at a Canadian bank (will not say which) that schemed DEI/mat-leave...she got the MD promo and then proceeded to have 2 kids back-to-back so collected 2 full year bonuses only working probably ~12 months...then left LOL
It had to be a Canadian bank. They are Gender DEI cesspool. Being a woman and doing bare minimum there gets you a mid bucket and promotion all the time and every time.

Man if your job feels like auschwitz you should quit
Welcome to working for Canadian banks. The real OGs of radical feminism and low productivity.
once had a a female colleague complain to HR abt the conversations during lunch being "male-focused" as we talked abt sports most days.
sorry hannah, idgafos abt ur kids.

Global private capital is a pretty bad offender of this... along with levfin

There's nothing wrong with a boy's club
No workplace should be any sort of "club". That's how you get a bunch of yes-men leading to governance failures
90%+ of the greatest human achievements have been done by what you'd probably call a "boy's club"
There's nothing wrong with any kind of free association.
Not every man is capable of being a ladies man. And that’s okay.
How is there bias against women when they have that insane women’s advisory pipeline…

Which minority is DEI benefitting? The prime freeloaders are women, in particular, white.
why are you throwing every single post into chatgpt and asking for a response
I just read the lawsuit and it's a total shakedown. This whole DEI thing is being exposed for it really is, a grift
How can a reasonable person complain about a pro-rated bonus while on mat leave?
Feminization of the workplace needs to stop
No wonder Gen Z keeps talking about repealing the 19th lmao

decades ago at least you worked hard but you also had some bits of fun and laughs during the day to destress
however, women killed that fun side of working, now it feels like you´re at school. Obey the rules, behave, and do your homework
What kinds of jokes could people make back then that they can't make now?
🤓
That’s why finance sucks now

Ngl I can't name a female rainmaker
Show us one female rainmaker who wasn’t a “DEI Beckie” and/or didn’t sleep her way up. Not a single one.
Lmao, of all the criticisms that one could lobby at RBC, not being woke enough is surely near the bottom.
Scotia and TD beat them at being chief supporters of incompetent white women. DEI final bosses.

Lmao they're just as bad. It's not a race issue, its fundamentally a gender issue
We need to eliminate all gender quotas and gender metrics on senior compensation formulas
Seems like you forgot to take your meds today
