BMO Chicago or Moelis Houston
Was lucky to receive an offer from one and have a superday for the other. Was curious on the outlook of both firms respective of their region, the industry, culture, pay, exit opps, etc.
How is this a question, really? Seems pretty obvious unless I am missing something about Moelis Houston?

Know people at both offices and both offices don’t have great cultures. With that being said, Moelis Houston is one of the top shops for energy whereas BMO Chicago does normal MM work. Your choice will depend on your industry and geographic preferences.
Moelis is not a top energy shop. That said, agree with your general sentiment. Moelis and lateral NYC in a year unless you really like Texas, easy choice.

Even if it sucks, your options for lateraling are way better out of Moelis than they’re gonna be out of BMO
Echo the above. BMO isn’t near the top of the mm in Chicago, while Moelis has a great reputation. Even if it’s a sweatshop, you can easily lateral after 6 mos/a year.
