Bonus % Of Base At All Firms Lower
It seems like this year and even last year that the average bonus % of base salary is around 50-60% for pretty much every bank besides some EBs, and even some EBs are around 60%, this used to be around 100% for associates and up like 5 years ago, what is happening? There are numbers from top BB's to low MM's that just seem low, around 50% for an associate seems crazy, and it seems like analysts can expect an average bonus around 50% of base too these days. What are you seeing is the reason for this?
The one thing that was ignored when base pay went up in 2021. People didn’t realise they didn’t increase total comp but just shifted money from bonus to base. Imagine TC probably up ~10k from now to then
It increased from what to 110k was it 100 prior? And still even with that 20% decrease in bonus is more than that
Base salary used to be ~$85k for analysts pre-2021
What was associate base pre-2021
125k
TD/Cowen bonus was close to 90%
Gotta factor in that most people who post the datapoints have a higher bonus, even then I think average was 65%-75%
