Had a good year from a productivity perspective but bonus was beyond my wildest dreams. Is it weird to tell the MD thank you or better off not mentioning it?

General rule is to use 25-50% of your bonus to buy something nice for your MD.
I can confirm, bought my MD a car and he gave me more logos to align
Take his wife out to dinner
Only fair since the MD reamed the female analyst class raw
This is a PC modern way your MD is telling you to get on your knees.
I've said thanks when it was way above expected. And I've received it. It's a good thing and builds rapport.
Just say you were surprised and appreciate the recognition.
