I have heard about the following groups or verticals within the banks below are relatively strong:
Evercore - RX, Tech, Industrials, Retail PJT - RX, Media & Telco Centerview - Tech & Media, Consumer & Retail Lazard - HC, Industrials Guggenheim - Media & Telco, HC Houlian Lokey - RX Moelis - RX, O&G William Blair - Tech
This is slightly off base for some firms. EVR just formed a consumer retail group this year with the new MD from Barclays.
Also how could Moelis be considered good at oil and gas? Their Houston group does nothing. EVR on the other hand has a massive Houston office and does a lot of deals in oil and gas.
Don't understand the MoCo O&G pairing at all. Also agree that EVR does really well in O&G. Would say that EVR does good in media as well.
You're right. Also, Industrials is a relatively new focus (2017) for EVR. I would say RX, Tech, HC, O&G instead.
For moelis: have you heard of Saudi Aramco and ADNOC ? That’s O&G

Is PWP industrials still as strong?
Not really sure Blair and Baird qualify as boutique, though they are strong, and do compete with some EB/BB on some deals. If including these MM shops, would also include Raymond James (Tech), and Harris Williams (Industrial) into the same group. As with many firms, it is totally group dependent.
Any input on LionTree or Raine Group?
LionTree is Media and Telecoms
Raine focuses on media (sports I believe are big here), LionTree media/telecoms.
Anyone have anything more on PWP?
PWP excels in Industrials
PWP is solid in TMT (practically poached Lazard's entire NYC team 2 years ago), MedTech, and Industrials.
Lazard is still solid in TMT imo. Amazing software team run out of Boston and also, aren't they Google and Tesla's banker?
