BTIG IB SA 2025 Interview

Hi, wondering if anybody has any tips for the BTIG investment banking summer analyst interview process! I just had my HR round and was immediately advanced to the second round with an analyst (30 mins) then an associate (30 mins). Is this pretty technical or mostly behavioral? Thanks !

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  • Behavioral Questions: These are crucial in the interview process. Many users emphasize the importance of fit questions and how they can differentiate you from other candidates. Expect questions like "walk me through your resume," "why finance," and "why BTIG."

  • Technical Questions: While technicals are important, they are often seen as a minimum threshold. You need to have a solid understanding of basic finance concepts such as valuation techniques, the three financial statements, and basic merger math or LBO understanding. However, the focus tends to be more on behavioral and fit questions, especially in later rounds.

  • Preparation Tips:

    • Behavioral: Be prepared to discuss your resume, your interest in finance, and your fit for the team. Practice articulating your story and experiences clearly and confidently.
    • Technicals: Ensure you have a good grasp of fundamental finance concepts. You don't need to go too deep into advanced topics unless specifically asked.
  • Interview Structure: Your second round with an analyst and an associate will likely include a mix of both behavioral and technical questions. Given the emphasis on fit, be ready to demonstrate your interest in the industry and your ability to work well with the team.

Good luck with your interview!
