RBC is climbing but is definitely not on the level that people try to elevate them to on this forum. They’re currently lower than UBS and probably on about the same level (perhaps a little lower) than DB in prestige, exits, etc. They do a lot of solid work in the financing space but aren’t particularly strong in m&a at the moment.

Same: GS, MS, JPM, Citi

Gaining: BAML, Barclays

Losing: CS, UBS, DB

I generally agree with this, but to me it kinda feels like more of a pre-pandemic ordering of things. From what I’ve been seeing/reading as an outside it seems kinda changed a bit. Not sure if BAML is at hot as it was prepan (when it seemed kinda on fire to me) and not sure if Barcap is moving too much from what I’ve seen. Seems like earnings have been like record levels for Gs/ms recently. Maybe they are somehow gaining again Among the balance sheet banks?

Is anyone willing to help me understand how you guys stay on top of all of these things? I don’t understand how you guys are able to say things like “xyz group of A bank has had crazy good deal flow this past year” or “ABC bank’s Chicago office is really coming through especially after x, y and z transactions.” Where do you guys get all of this information? Especially for specific groups and cities, and how do you guys keep up with every single bank? Most BBs don’t share their transaction histories on their website, and other than using my school’s Bloomberg terminal, there is no free resource (to my knowledge, so plz enlighten me) that will detail a bank’s transactions. Will you guys help me see the obvious thing I’m missing? Sorry for the book but I’ve thought about writing a post on this before. Any insight is very helpful.
