Burnt out from EB
Analyst at EB (moelis/ghl/gugg) and didn’t do on cycle recruiting. Feel incredibly burned out and my bank / group in particular has a horrendous culture. Fellow analysts are cool but everyone is so depressed and tired it doesn’t even matter — no personality on day 2 day. Pretty done with horrible WLB and honestly couldn’t see myself going through the PE ringer anyways. Corp dev seems like a steep drop off in comp and despite being EB we don’t get many HH reach outs for interesting corp dev positions — where do I go from here?

Why not work at a start up? Take a break from finance and do something interesting that may align with your cov space. You’ll have an opportunity to drive impact and work on more interesting things.
Go to a mid market, work 60 hours a week and have similar comp
Sure the pay would be the same but then he wouldn’t be able to say he works at an “elite boutique” - that’s gotta be worth something, r-right??
Once you put prestige aside it’s bliss. I’m at a MM with above street comp and I closed my laptop at 11am. Have the entire weekend to fuck off and do whatever I want
