Cal haas or math?

Hi, i've been reading some threads and have a question. I read that if you go to Cal and dont go to haas then breaking into banking is significantly harder. I want to go into finance and specifically ib after college but would rather major in math than in business. If i get a good gpa how would i be compared to the haas undergrads?

if you would rather do math and are confident that you'll get good grades go math. just be sure to take relevant courses (econ, fin accting, corp fin) and get good work experience. if you do those things you'll be just as strong of a candidate for IB, if not stronger, while opening up other options for you that wouldn't be available had you went haas. it is NOT a disadvantage to major math vs. business as long as your resume is just as strong in everything else

I did engineering over business at a semi-target with a top undergrad business program (one of Cal-Haas, CMU-Tepper, UVA-McIntire, Michigan-Ross) Best decision of my life and didn't stop me from landing 2 BB SA gigs since sophomore year. I was able to do what a typical business major can do, in addition to what a typical business major cant do because of my math background. (For instance, I am on a structuring desk working with pricing models that a typical business major cant begin to understand. So my advice to you is, if you can do well in math, go do math, and good luck.
