Of course, why do you think everyone says that investment bankers make so much money? They know everything in advance. I've been consistently shorting the acquirer and longing the seller on every M&A deal I've worked on and told my parents to do the same and I'm making much more money than my friends who work on some fucking IPOs.

You can't trade on material, non-public information. Ask your compliance department for the details on this as every firm has different procedures.
We don't have compliance dept. It's just a small middle market firm
If you work for a registered broker dealer then there's some series 24 principal lurking around that'll be able to help out with this. Even if you're a non-licensed intern they'll be able to spell out what the rules are.
