Canadian Summer and FT placement
Hey guys just curious to see if anyone can shed some light to summer and ft recruitment this year for Canadian banks. What schools, number of hires, backgrounds? Or even for Canadians at US banks.

Incoming Full-time analyst IBD placements from Richard Ivey (HBA class of 2011). I'm probably missing a few, but the majority are here:
Canada: 5 at RBC 2 at CIBC 3 at BMO 1 GS Toronto, 1 GS Calgary 2 CS Toronto 1 Canaccord Genuity 2 Macquarie 1 Nomura 1 MS Calgary 3 CPPIB
United States: 3 GS NY, 1 GS LA, 1 GS SF 2 CS LA, 1 CS SF 2 Moelis NY, 1 Moelis LA 1 JPM NY 1 Evercore NY 1 HLHZ Restructuring LA, 1 HLHZ NY 1 Barclays LA 1 Union Square Advisors SF
1 CS London UK
Wow 40 in IBD? Do you have numbers for S&T and ER as well?
Ivey doesn't send nearly as many into S&T and ER. Off the top of my head, I can think of 1 to 2 FT S&T placements at each of CIBC, Scotia, HSBC, RBC, Barclays. One grad is also going to GS Investment Partners Hong Kong.
I'm not sure if the GS Calgary person has started yet. I'm assuming it would be in July
That is an impressive figure
can anyone from any specific banks comment on hiring they have seen this year for undergrad or MBA?
Did the kid at GS Calgary start yet? I'm pretty close with everyone in that office and haven't heard anything about a new analyst. Also, I'll add the Calgary spots I know of:
GS: 2 summers (1 from the University of Calgary (UofC), 1 from Wharton) JPM: 2 summers (1 in S&T is from the UofC, never met the other 1 in IBD) BMO: 2 IBD summers from the University of Alberta, 2 FT (UofC and University of Saskatchewan) Macquarie: 1 summer in Toronto (Ivey) FirstEnergy: 3 Summers, 2 FT (4 from UofC, 1 from UBC) Barclays: 1 summer (Ivey)
All of the big 5 and a few notable boutiques recruited for FT IBD in Calgary but most don't starts until Sept. Everyone is adding numbers with oil back up.
This thread should be a mandatory read for anyone who posts "which school should i go too" the Ivey numbers are very impressive.
Summer placements from Ivey for this summer, so HBA class of 2012, are:
Canada: 2/3 RBC 2/3 TD 2/3 Scotia 7/8 CIBC (including 1 ST) 2 BMO 3 CS Toronto (including 1 ST) 1 BAML Toronto 1 Oncap (Onex) 1 Imperial Capital (PE) 1 MS Toronto 1 MS Calgary 1 JPM Toronto 1 Barclays Calgary 1 Macquarie Toronto 2 CPPIB
US: 1 CS SF, 2 CS LA 1 GS SF, 3 GS NY (including 1 ST and 1 GS Investment Partners) 2 Moelis LA 1 Qatalyst SF 1 HLHZ LA 1 Barclays LA 1 Union Square Advisors SF 1 Evercore NY 1 Macquarie NY
Im probably missing a few as well.
Dunno about other schools, but for Schulich, there are only:
2 TD Toronto 1 CIBC Toronto 1 UBS Toronto 1 HSBC ST (I think in London, UK) 1 OTPP Toronto
Anyone have data for the MBA programs?
bump
Hi, does anyone have the #'s for Canadian placement for the 2013 SA class?
Only know US/some Globals for Ivey:
1 LGP LA 2 GS NY, 2 GS LA, 1 GS TO 1 MS NY 1 JPM NY 1 CS SF, ~1 CS TO, 1 CS Calgary ~3 EVR NY, ~2 EVR TO 2 HLHZ LA 3 Moelis LA 2 Barclays LA
Miscellaneous numbers for Union Square/CPPIB/etc. Guessing roughly the same amount sent to Canadian banks/smaller firms.
did the LGP LA kid get a return FT offer/accept it? met him while he was interviewing for some other shit while he was waiting to hear back.
Yup, he ended up getting a FT offer from LGP.
Apparently a hotshot from Ivey already snagged a SA spot at Barclays before Jan recruitment, can anybody confirm ?
I know Barclays hired someone from Ivey in Calgary. Apparently they ran an early process.
Out of curiosity, how did SA go this year for Canadian schools? There always seem to be a lot of Canadian kids at BBs.
