Capital IQ vs Thomson ONE

Our firm is deciding between Capital IQ and Thomson ONE subscription. I used Capital IQ during my trial and liked it, haven't used Thomson ONE.

From what I've learned so far Capital IQ has a better interface, but Thomson ONE has free access to various broker reports, which is pretty important for us.

We will be using platform mainly for peer comparison, M&A data, company financials (including private companies), and research (where available), specific focus on emerging markets.

It would be nice to have Thomson ONE for both above mentioned tasks AND vast broker research base. But I'd rather have on good product instead of 2 mediocre ones, if Thomson is no good.

Could anyone share advice on which platform to pick? When comparing both platforms we don't really care about price (although we are getting only one of them) and ready to buy full-package subscription.

Also, most people I know are using Capital IQ, Bloomberg or FactSet, and I know no one who would use Thomson ONE, so there is another point of concern.

P.S. I know there are similar threads on the forum, but they are pretty outdated and mainly compare Capital IQ with FactSet, so don't slam me for that.

Thanks a lot

my firm uses both. thomson one sucks balls, we only use it for the research notes. the interface is horrible, not user friendly at all, and it's really laggy.

capiq > thomson one

Hi all

I've used both and the T1 has a huge advantage in Company profiles, research, M&A and PE databases. Cap IQ might have a slightly better interface, but my company needed PE information and research, which cap IQ was lacking
