Citi Group Rankings 2026
Seeing several postings up for Citi IB across Tech, FIG, Consumer, and Industrials. Was looking to gain some insight into group rankings and what places have the best combination of deal experience and culture? Also seeing a lot of postings up for 1st and 2nd years in these groups — is their IB arm growing, or are analysts just quitting given new leadership (assume work is becoming more sweaty under Vis and new hires)?
Bump
IND/M&A/FSG/HC strongest teams, Telco/Tech/Energy/C&R are the next strongest.
Aggressive hiring in Tech particularly, Energy has fallen off slightly in the past 7 years but still strong.
How is software?
What’s going on in the tech team specifically?
SF team doing some strong hiring, saw two senior laterals from JPM in the past six(?) months
How does Sponsors (GAM) stack up in terms of culture, exit opps, and deal flow compare to other top groups?
bump
Strong group that holds pen on modeling and has worked on massive deals (Hologic / BX & Walgreens / Sycamore) The juniors have historically had great exits to PE
what were the past exits for sponsors?
Is levfin any good? I understand lev fin is really good generally at BBs for PE exits but apparently not as good at citi..
Bump
does not do the modeling and is capital markets focused over origination. It’s not the best
m&a and industrials are strongest
Bump
M&A and IND strongest. Tech is strong too and has seen some movement in leadership (both inflow and outflow) recently. LevFin is great. GAM has one of the better cultures. Believe FIG has a decent culture too. Would avoid Power/Energy if culture is top priority. Tech can get quite sweaty too.
How bad is tech?
Disagree Levfin is a much weaker analyst experience vs other BBs. Modeling is done by Sponsors and you’re more of a term sheet machine than banker
M&a industrials gam and comms are strong, healthcare is rising
is comms actually strong i heard they were sweaty
delete
heard m&a and industrials are full, c&r and healthcare seem to be one big group and the best to join right now
Wdym full? Group placement hasn’t happened yet
Completely false
Any insights into C&R group?
Del
How are exits from HC and Sponsors? MF still possible?
How is industrials?

Anyone know about the LATAM team? Deal flow, culture, etc
How is media telecom? Heard they’re strong but are exits good? Saw a few years ago they were toxic but is that still the case? The people I know on the team seemed chill
Heard power is the most toxic
Strong, juniors in the past have exited to Stonepeak, RedBird, EQT, etc. Good media and telecom deal flow (worked on Paramount / WBD, etc).
Any idea on the real estate / REGAL group?
Heard that it’s always snowing in the REGL group whatever that means…
Was also told “they love to go on ski trips”
