Closing brokerage accounts before starting in IB?
If you want to play safe and avoid any conflicts of interest, should you close your trading account preemptively and open a mutual fund/ETF account through your firm or are you given the chance to roll over your holdings when starting? Would prefer not to liquidate my holdings now given market.
Just move it over to whatever brokerage your firm allows. No need to close the account; all you have to do is initiate a transfer. You keep all your positions, and there is a fee depending on the brokerage (some of them will waive it if you ask).
