Frame it as an update - maybe send over an interesting article you’ve read recently, ask when they have 15 minutes to catch up and discuss the markets. They can likely give you color on updates in the debt and equity markets, M&A and LBO interest in their industry (if it’s a coverage group), and what their group has been up to recently (closed anything / prepping for anything / etc.) You can then mention continuing to be interested in the work and that you’re open to opportunities.
