It’s confirmed insofar my friend A1 that got slogged in 2020 in DCM got a paltry $40k despite receiving top ranks. I’m sorry if this is misleading but I don’t think there’s really a better point of reference. Please share hard numbers if you have any.

That's pretty wild if top bucket was 40K given that's just so low compared to a lot of capital markets standard comp for analysts that I'm aware of at least.. I know concrete CM comp at other banks (both MM and bulge) which are pretty much equivalent to the banking groups.

Got it, but this is still very misleading. 2020 was a unique year so have to consider that, and DCM (MS calls it FICM) has the lowest bonuses in GCM and makes up a fraction of the analysts. Also 40K as a top A2 is just not right. 40k for a top A1 in FICM sounds right.

When people think GCM at MS they think ECM, LevFin or syndicate roles. If Lev Fin, ECM made 30-40K as top bucket, they’d have no analysts. Average is likely 40-50K for good A1. A2 more like 50-70K. The best analysts will make even more than these.
