Construction ---> Finance, How Can I Spin It?

Hello monkeys, here are my stats. 7 years union construction experience in Chicago, Bachelor's of Business Admin/Minor in Finance non-target CUM:3.83gpa / Maj:3.97 ; dream job like everyone else = portfolio manager at long only.

However, I have no finance experience but I am taking the GMAT soon. Some argue MSF because I lack finance exp. Some say MBA because I have roughly 5 years of supervisory experience in construction (not finance related though). Should I try and land an IB internship unpaid right now? Equity Research job? What is my path to success given my diverse background? Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read this.
