Corporate banking to Consulting

During college I interned at a growth equity fund, which was found primarily by ex Mckinsey employees. I got really intrigued by the way they handled things and wanted to shift to consulting. However, I was not able to get into MBB back then, and got offers to join tier 2 (think Ow, kearney, s&). I also got an offer from a corporate banking team at a BB where cb sits with the IB team. Took that role mainly because of the substantially higher pay (consulting pays are peanuts in Europe). Now I have an option of interviewing with MBB in a different geography, where they pay is amazing as well. But I'm not sure what should I say for why transition to consulting now, as my primary affinity from consulting comes from an internship I did a couple of years ago. Also how should I proceed with answering the question on why did I not move to consulting right after my internship and rather took up CB. Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot :)

I started as a financial analyst at a healthcare company before moving to consulting.

They asked why I wanted to move from industry into consulting - I told them I was looking to move into a client serving role where I can help businesses grow and optimize their profitability (just throw in some consulting jargon and they’ll eat it up, consulting is mostly faking in til you make it).

You can tell them that you’ve been interested in consulting ever since you did an internship..you can talk about what you’ve learned at the bank, what you specialize in, and how you want to expand your skill set.

Be sure to not just talk about what you want from them, but also what you can bring to the table, and how your skills can help their business.
