Cross-Border M&A IB between Asia and US

After reading an economist article regarding cross-border acquisitions by Chinese companies (http://www.economist.com/node/17460954), I just got to wondering - is there a niche for bankers who want to deal with international deals between the USA and China/Asia in general (both China into US and US into China)?

A recent report I saw calculated the Asian investment into the US was up almost 700% so this definitely appears to be a growing trend. Furthermore, this could be a space where having both an Eastern and Western background would be critical.

I know there is general a stigma about Asian M&A that clients don't like to pay for advice and more likely to consult with bankers and then do the deals on their own, so I just wanted the input of anyone who was familiar with the topic. It would be much appreciated.
