CVP NY vs Moelis LA vs PJT M&A NY vs Laz NY

Hi all,

Fortunate enough to get offers at these places and torn between having to make a choice.

Culturally, I think CVP and PJT are the best and I’ll enjoy it the most. At the same time, Moelis LA kills it with exits. Both Lazard and Moelis seem like absolute sweatshops.

Open to being a career banker, so was also wondering how high comp gets at the senior levels at CVP. At the same time, also very interested in exiting to PE/HF. Basically, I have no freaking idea what to do with my life and would like guidance here.

Traditional ranking suggests CVP > PJT > Laz=Moco

This changes if you like LA. but CVP will develop you the best and has a fantastic culture

congrats nonetheless, can’t go wrong

also Moco is sweaty af lol

I work at one of the banks here (not CVP). Take CVP. Exits are awesome, pay is incredible and if you want to be a career banker there's no better place IMO.

Do you happen to know if they’re supportive for PE recruiting?

If you are interested in being a career banker, go to CVP. Best comp, best culture, most prestige. If you want to go to HF / PE, Moelis, Laz and PJT are all basically interchangeable (maybe slight preference to Moelis LA, or Laz if you can get into the restructuring group). But you should really pick based on culture.

FWIW I have heard Laz is not as sweaty as it used to be. Have not heard those things about Moelis (especially LA).
