DB FIG Insurance Structuring
Hi everyone. Does anyone have insight into Deutsche Bank’s FIG Insurance Structuring team and what the work looks like day to day?
From what I understand, the role involves insurance focused financing and advisory work for life and P&C insurers, structuring capital solutions for reinsurance vehicles and sidecars, and working on insurance related private credit transactions for the bank’s balance sheet.
This does not seem like traditional FIG coverage investment banking, so I am trying to better understand the nature of the work and scope.
I would appreciate perspectives on how the role is split between origination, structuring, and execution, how it compares to pure FIG investment banking or similar teams, and what the hours and culture are like in practice.
For context, I come from an insurance and reinsurance background and am exploring this type of role.
Thanks in advance for any insight!!!

Bump
They sit in the bubble alongside the ABS group, believe they do more financing / capital markets stuff as opposed to M&A, DCM, etc. It's a small team, maybe 5-7 people, and i think they're all quite senior
Thank you for this. Would you happen to have any insight into hours/culture/comp on this team or FIC in general?
So i didn't know they were in FIC, I assumed they were in O&A. In terms of culture, i cant say ive had any interactions with them, they all seem nice. In terms of hours i think they're alright, usually they're out by 7. Unfortunately, it's a small group which is fairly separate from the rest of FIC so hard to gauge.
In terms of FIC more broadly, it's DB's strongest segment for sure. There's a lot of business moving through, the comp is very good, and the people are great.
