Declining my return offer

Hey guys,

Party due to WSO, been able to perform very well in my SA which comes to an end soon. I've been offered the return multiple times verbally during the internship from my group-head, MD down to my staffers so have strong conviction I'll get it formally too

Unfortunately accepted a FT offer elsewhere - and although I genuinely love working here, other offer is one of the best groups on the street. Few of the Analysts in the group know and weren't surprised and very supportive when I told them.

Question is, if anyone has any suggestions on telling the wider team on last day in a thank you email, or wait till I get the return offer and decline / let others know then ?

first time interning so not sure. appreciate help guys!

Very impressed with the balls you have to tell the analysts about ur other offer lol. If u receive an offer (which sounds like u will), you aren’t required or expected to accept / decline on the spot. Typically there is a 1-2 week window you’re given to make your decision.

That being said, I think the best thing u could do is have a good attitude and show praise when given ur offer, then send a wider email to the head of ur group / HR saying you unfortunately will not be accepting the return. I’d even offer to hop on the phone with them if needed to make it more personable (“happy to discuss on the phone or provide more details if needed”) then u can send a email to ur wider team (or on a one-off basis) expressing ur gratitude and appreciation for them throughout the summer and how u learned a lot, enjoyed working with them, etc.

Congrats on the successful summer and FT offer

Best of Luck

Wait until you get that offer letter in writing and then tell people. Until then, shut up because seniors will probably try to retaliate against you
