Of course I know him, he’s me. I’ve never brought it up in interviews and it’s never been on my resume - I viewed it as fairly binary where someone would either love the hustling/grinding or be completely turned off. Did not land banking out of school but something adjacent (more detail below), then to a small banking boutique, then into the buyside world and am currently at a growing MM fund.

Anything is possible. There is no special sauce here. I had a 4.0 in CC that allowed me to transfer to a decent school - very limited OCR but viewed favorably for its academics in the northeast and has a decent alumni network (which got me a couple of interviews that did not convert). I did an unpaid “banking” internship at a 3-man shop my first summer after transferring that involved a two-hour one way commute (lol fuck me), next summer was back office at an asset manager that I leveraged to FO there. Then it was networking and grinding for the rest of it.

Also me. I did not put anything related to it on my resume but everyone who knows respects the grind. Ended up transferring and got so involved it wouldn’t make sense to have it on my resume. Ended up at a top EB for my SA. My bank has seen my transcript and does not care. Hopefully they too respect the grind

Hey, would it be possible if I can PM you. I'm hoping to do the same and would love to hear your experience and advice. Thanks!

one of my family members transferred from foreign uni -> US community college -> semi-target/regional target

post-grad, she did middle office at GS/MS/JPM in tier 3 city and now FO at boutique firm in tier 1 city.

No idea if she mentions her journey in interviews — But I know she is proud and very happy with her journey. She brings it up in convos w/ friends bc her CC was more fun than the semi-target. She has her CC listed on linkedin.
