Diet in IB
Hey all- started banking and wanted to get advice on my diet. I gained some weight in the first 3 months and want to make sure I’m healthy going forward. I do intermittent fasting (only coffee/water from wake up - 1pm), lunch is something random low carb (I don’t want afternoon crash) and dinner is usually a chipotle bowl. I end up eating ice cream everyday during downtime. Anyone have any suggestions? Moved to the city so want to try health alternatives to spice things up.
Track calories in / out
Cut the ice cream and eat something other than chipotle (calorie intake is high with their food)
Eat stuff that is low in calories, but high in volume so that you feel full. Additionally, go for a which run in the morning with an empty stomach, it should promote fat burning until you eat.
Not in IB yet, but I would try to cut out the ice cream as the very first thing. If you need to wean off of it, I would suggest using yogurt in the interim. Like someone else mentioned, chipotle bowls have a lot of calories with all the beans and the rice, although they are extremely filling. If you do continue to get a Chipotle bowl, make sure not to get that fried crunchy shell thing, choose brown rice over white rice, and try not to get too much sour cream, queso/cheese, salsa (some of these are really high in sodium), and chips. It might be smart to try and make these changes gradually so that they're sustainable. Good luck and congrats on getting into IB!
You'd be surprised to find out caloric-wise, choosing white over brown at chipotle is a very small difference. Better to focus on things like cheese, sour cream and the tortilla itself. Use myfitnesspal to get more caloric information on the intake.
My fav way to order chipotle bowls is no rice. Just think: rice has the carb density of potatoes by 5X for equivalent portion.
Double chicken, double veggies, black beans, corn, pico de gallo, salsas, cheese, lettuce, always guac and drown that shit in green tobasco.
OP- it's not difficult, watch YouTube full day of eating videos and you'll see if you want to look better, eat what bodybuilders eat. You don't have to follow their diet to a T but gives you an idea.
Vegetables should be the focus of every meal.
Don't eat from 7P-7A.
When we get back to the office seamless is after 8 sadly
Calories in vs. calories out
Cut out the Chipotle bowl or manage what toppings you get. It's not "healthy" and can easily be a caloric bomb depending - it can add up really quickly
A chicken bowl with rice and beans but no guac/cheese/sour cream is already ~600 calories. add on the guac/cheese/sour cream and you are looking at ~1,000+. Add on the tortilla wrap, and thats +300 calories, chips are like 500+. Depending on your gender/weight/height, one CMG meal could be 1/3 to 1/2 of your daily caloric intake/BMR (base metabolic rate)
Same thing for lunch - watch out and try to look at the caloric information if available. Even places like Sweetgreens can be deceivably high calorie with some of the salads/bowls at 700+ calories before dressing, and then another 100-150 calories for the dressings (i.e. like vinaigrettes)
Cut out the ice cream, or go with a lower calorie option like Halo Top
I usually get the salad bowl but rice (1,000 calories). Any restaurant suggestions? I got 2 grilled chicken burgers (900 total calories) and ate them around 7 yesterday with a chicken salad (500? Calories). I’m a big guy (6’5 230) but gain weight pretty easy
might get flamed for this but try cutting out all sugars and carbs for like a month
It's as simple as calories in, calories out. Start tracking calories using an app and it'll be easy to tell what you have to limit yourself too to drop a few pounds. All foods in moderation, but helpful to understand where the majority of your calories are coming in.
