Divisional Movement Opportunities within JPM
Greetings,
I am seeking insights from current JPM employees regarding the possibilities for divisional movement within the firm. As the job market continues to tighten, I am fortunate to have secured a Summer Analyst position with JPMorgan Chase & Co. However, the placement is in a division that is not my first preference.
Given this context, I would like to solicit advice on the following options:
A) Accept the Summer Analyst offer and pursue an internal transfer to my desired division after completing the internship.
B) Decline the offer and continue searching for an internship within my preferred division at another company.
Any guidance or firsthand experiences shared by current employees will be greatly appreciated. Your perspectives will greatly assist me in making an informed decision about my career path.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
Current Analyst at JPM. Internal mobility, especially across divisions, will, unfortunately, be quite difficult and could jeopardize your return offer for the division that you are interning in. Would suggest that, if you don't like the division, you either intern at JPM and then recruit for FT, decline the offer if you seriously don't like that job, or get the JPM return offer and do the 2 year analyst program and then switch to your desired division (assuming you want to go the internal mobility route). The firm is much more lenient and understanding of your "evolving professional interests" after you finish the 2-analyst program.
