Do you actually like your coverage group?

Hello fellow monkeys,

Title says it all, do you guys actually like your coverage group? Given how spontaneous group placement is for interns (and most ppl stay in the same group for FT), I feel like a lot of people work in groups they just have little to no interest in / excitement for. When talking to my friends and coworkers this seems to drive a lot of them to leave as they simply find the work / sector uninteresting, paired with the usual "push" factors out of IB (hours, shitty seniors, bad culture, etc.)

I am fortunate to enjoy my coverage sector but was just curious how others feel and wanted to share my 2 cents.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving,

Cheers

I like my coverage group a lot, was a sector I am passionate about that is traditionally not everyone’s first pick for a “cool” sector (think business services or metal and mining). Makes long nights slightly more bearable

Why? I’m an incoming SA in healthcare, didn’t really intend to go healthcare but was the offer I got.

The industries I find most people enjoying coverage are renewables, consumer, and tech. I think HC has the most people hate their coverage for some reason, which I suppose makes sense given how much of the general American population hates the healthcare system; it's just a numbers thing there. I have found industrials to be a split of those who are meh about the industry and those who like it a lot, but generally, most analysts Ik in it are either meh about it or hate it, very few explicitly hate their coverage there. FIG also seems to have more people hate their job. No comment on trad energy as I don't know many in it.

I want to note that I am an analyst at a mid-tier BB from a semi-target without a business school and am basing this primarily on myself and my friends (most from the same school). Thus, might have a skewed perception here, but still have a decent sample size so it should be at least somewhat reflective of people's views on their groups.
