Do your Junior Associates do any work?
Not looking for someone to come on here and spread around the Kool-Aid that an associate's job is just to review and manage stuff. I want to know from people who are obviously part of different teams, groups, banks etc, do your junior associates (newly promoted, one year onto the job, excluding new MBAs) actually do any work? Seems like on live deals, pitches, bakeoffs there is a lot to be done, and as an analyst I could use them rolling their sleeves up to knock out a few slides. At the very least give exact direction so I don't spin my wheels.
Seems like all my Jr Aso does is check if the comments given by VP or higher have been turned. Never in the excel / ppt, nor ideating slides or pulling reference materials to get somewhere.
Analyst 1 in IB-M&A, shame nobody has responded. Maybe one of these topics will help:

You're welcome.
Currently at a low-mid tier bank in Houston. Great associates (no MBA associates) who all know their shit and typically help.
Good junior Associates should absolutely jump in and help on execution as much as Analysts.
What about average ones?
