Early Career IB vs. Early Career Tech

Hi everyone, after reading a lot of discussion posts comparing IB to Mega-cap tech I wanted to start a similar conversation but through the lens of someone early in their career. Both career paths have high compensation ceilings and both are pretty selective compared to other industries.

Almost every Corp. Dev./FP&A senior at FAANG firms I have spoken with recommends getting experience at a bank before switching to the better work-life balance enjoyed in tech. The perks in tech are also pretty insane with great food, weekly massages, and generous PTO.

All that being said, in finance at FAANG you are not a primary source of revenue i.e. software developers, so you may always feel like you are a second thought compared to those individuals. My question to all of you is if you could go back to the beginning or are there now, would you start in finance at a FAANG or take the traditional route and lateral after a few years in IB?

I personally have a deadline coming up to decide whether to go to AAPL/GOOG/MSFT or a MM IB. I'm leaning towards MM IB for the experience and base pay is a little higher.
