Easier to impress MDs than analysts?
From my experience speaking with alumni I feel that MDs and group heads are always more impressed by my resume than analysts - maybe because SAT/GPA requirements for banking have gone up from before, its more competitive to get into a target, etc? Anyone have similar experiences?
Might also be because analyst came from the same boat as you did, so they're comparing themselves to you and thinking, "I'm better or I did just as well". Analysts are also grumpier with the hours they're working. Take it with a grain of salt.
MD's seem to get straight to the point. I asked for an informational with an MD and the first thing he said was "So you want a job?" and then told me to send him my resume so that he could forward it on. (all without me actually saying a single thing)
