EB or BB affect MBA chances?

Recently accepted an offer from a top boutique & withdrew from processes at the top 3 BBs (had sday lined up w/ a top group at GS)

MBA is something I'm considering, but I ultimately optimized for comp bc I couldn't bring myself to sacrifice damn near $100k just so I could have "prestige". The only way I could see it biting me in the ass is if the top MBA programs don't fw boutiques like that, but don't see why they wouldn't.Could someone more experienced shed some light on this please? Thanks!

Curious about this as well, but I don’t think it matters because the deal section of your resume should more or less rubber stamp the pedigree

Still wouldn't worry about it, top schools are familiar with the EB's. That said, if you're aiming for Harvard/Stanford, for deferred admissions they only take people from traditional backgrounds (MBB and IB) if they are URMs or have otherwise unique and essentially perfect backgrounds. If you don't get in now, doesn't mean you don't have a solid chance when you apply for regular admissions.

Both EBs and BBs have great exit to B-schools. In fact, since most senior bankers from firms like Q/EVR/LAZ/PWP/MOE and the BBs are all mostly from top schools (MD generation where it was more or less mandatory to do a MBA after a few years in banking to get promoted), they will easily write you a reference. The real question here is: what do you want to do after B-school?

I would also highly suggest working somewhere else before going to B-school (and not go straight from banking). Someone suggested doing a year or so of buy-side; you could also look at tech/startups. That experience you get will make it significantly easier for you to recruit into consulting/buy-side/tech/whatever you want to do post MBA, and a significantly better candidate than most of your MBA classmates. Best of luck!
