Energy Banking

Wanted to get some advice here and maybe for others weighing sophomore internship options.

I've got a chance to intern at a reputable bank in their energy group as a sophomore, but I plan on going into tech for my junior summer. Will energy banking as a sophomore pigeonhole me/will banks not like that it doesn't go with the "why tech?" narrative or is banking experience banking experience and that's all that matters.

Thanks in advance.

Will be joining energy banking next summer at a BB! It wouldn’t hurt your prospects, especially if you get to work at a shop that does midstream/downstream stuff. The deal structure and mindset would be well regarded by any bank unless you don’t have a solid answer for why tech? Any IB experience is only helpful and can’t count against you. Best of Luck!
