Engineer to IB...can this be done?

I majored in Civil engineering and graduated with a 3.9 with honors. I graduated in 2021 and have been working as a civil engineer ever since, not really happy with the work I do and the field in general. I have been doing my research about the finance industry and IB stood out to me and I have been trying to figure out ways to break into the industry.

I went to a non target school but I did take a certification course in RE finance where I learnt about valuation and running the basic DCF, cash flow models and have taken intro level courses in economics

Given my background what should I do to break into the industry ? Can I do it without getting a MSF

P.S - I am aware that the current market is not the best to transition but I am hoping to set things in motion for the future

Interned at top 3 bank this summer in industrial, I would say majority of the senior people were ex engineers and pursued mba at top 7 school and switched to banking. Furthermore, a summer associate there was pretty old, so I believe that age isn't much of a factor when I comes to switching to banking. You would need mba from a top school pretty much for IB - to PE or top 15 just for IB. Now I’m sure you can get into a smaller LMM bank or MM bank at most with no MBA, but for the top banks I’m almost gurantee you will need a mba
