Ethical average on resume?
WSO,
I go to a Canadian target and since I'm getting a B. Comm. / HBA etc. I don't technically have a major. Would it be ethical to, in place of "major GPA", put "concentration GPA"? For example, could I put all of my finance-only classes under my concentration GPA or would this be frowned upon?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, this is fine, however almost all big firms will take your transcript and recalculate your GPA based on internal templates anyway. It might be helpful for smaller shops to get an idea of your GPA in relevant classes, but I wouldn't stress too much about it either way.
just make sure you don't mis-state anything asked of you on official application.
So you go to Ivey and you want to know if you should put your cumulative GPA or Ivey only, I would put your Ivey only but wouldn't tranche further than that. It's misleading.
How bad is your cumulative GPA? You don't need to have a "major" GPA on your resume - if your cumulative GPA is strong, then just go with your cumulative and don't worry about the major. If, however, your cumulative GPA is weak, and your "major" GPA would be much stronger, then it would be fine to label it "concentration GPA" and include your finance courses (if that is your intended concetration). I am assuming that you've taken a number of finance courses already - otherwise your concentration GPA would be a misleading, if, say, you've only taken intro to finance.
