Evercore IB DA or Ares PC PM
Hi, I just received two offers in London and was wondering which one to take
- Evercore Investment Banking Debt Advisory Graduate Programme
- Ares Management Private Credit Portfolio Management Summer Internship
Which of them would be better for my career progression?
Would appreciate any insights.
When deciding between Evercore's Investment Banking Debt Advisory (IB DA) Graduate Programme and Ares Management's Private Credit (PC) Portfolio Management Summer Internship, here are some key factors to consider based on the most helpful WSO content:
1. Career Progression and Exit Opportunities
Evercore IB DA:
Ares PC PM:
2. Skill Development
Evercore IB DA:
Ares PC PM:
3. Long-Term Goals
4. Location and Networking
5. Compensation and Work-Life Balance
Recommendation
Both are excellent opportunities, so you can't go wrong. Think about your long-term aspirations and which role aligns better with your interests and career trajectory. Good luck!

In this economy any grad role is a blessing I’d go for EVR
FYI heard Ares PC PM has pretty intense drinking culture (think going to Scotch every Fri till 3/4am)
I heard that the analyst that started this year in the evr da team is highly inept so that would be your senior when you start next year
LOL some are saying
Evercore, if it was Evercore vs Ares Origination then it's different
Definitely agree with this. EVR DA will likely be more rigorous and give you more optionality as you finish your analyst years. Ares PC PM is also a great option but is an internship that you'd need to convert.
Also depends on the work you'd prefer. Portfolio Management means you're doing less of the work to make a deal go through and more monitoring of investments and making sure portfolio companies are healthy. With DA, you'd get the opportunity to work on both sides of deals as well as a wider breadth of situations.
EVR grad seems like the no trainer unless there's other factors influencing your decision.
